Allamanda plant is a genus of flowering plants in the dogbane family, Apocynaceae. They are native to the Americas, where they are distributed from Mexico to Argentina. Some species are familiar as ornamental plants cultivated for their large, colorful flowers. Most species produce yellow flowers.
This vigorous climbing plant has leathery evergreen leaves arranged in whorls of 4 at intervals along the stem and bright yellow flowers. The stems twine to 6 m or considerably more and contain milky sap. Allamanda is an easy-to-grow flowering shrub from the tropics that offers a steady display of flowers all spring and summerlong. It’s prized for its excellent heat tolerance and long-season bloom — as well as the fact that allamanda grows well in both containers and landscapes.
