Tinda, Indian baby pumpkin (Praecitrullus fistulosus), also known as Indian round gourd or apple gourd, is a popular summer vegetable in India. The seeds are small, oval, and light brown in color. Tinda plants thrive in warm climates and require full sunlight for healthy growth. Seeds germinate in about 6–10 days under proper conditions. The vegetable is round, green, and tender, with a mild taste, widely used in curries, stir-fries, and gravies. Tinda is rich in fiber, vitamins, and minerals, making it a healthy addition to the diet.
1. Seed Selection
- Check for uniform size and color, free from damage or disease.
- Choose healthy, fresh, and high-quality Tinda seeds for better germination and yield.
2.Soil and Sowing Seeds
- Add organic compost or farmyard manure to enrich the soil.
- Sow seeds 1–2 cm deep.
- Keep 1–1.5 m between rows and 60–75 cm between plants.
3. Germination
- Seeds germinate in 6–10 days under warm conditions.
4. Care
- Expose seedlings gradually to full sunlight for hardening.
- Once seedlings emerge, thin weaker plants to maintain proper spacing.

5. Flowering & Fruiting

6. Harvesting
