Wax apple (Jamrul fruit plant) is a tropical tree growing to 12 m tall, with evergreen leaves The flowers are white, with four petals and numerous stamens. The fruit is a bell-shaped, edible berry, with colours ranging from white, pale green, or green to red, purple, or crimson, to deep purple or even black, fruit size will be 4–6 cm long in some varieties.
Java apple is not actually an apple. It is a tropical fruit that grows in south-east Asia, including southern India, Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia. In Malaya and Indonesia, it will give two crops a year. Thailand’s variety of wax apples are big sizes and very sweet and delicious, while some varieties can be relatively round, others are somewhat pear-shaped, wide at the bottom, and very narrow at the top.
Fertilizing

Harvesting
When the colour of the fruit changes from green to light green or red (in the case of the red variety), it is an indication that the fruit is ready to be picked. The fruit is also quite edible at this stage. The fruit is handpicked. Pick at the mature stage. Always handle the fruit carefully as the skin is susceptible to mechanical damage during handling.
