Description

Tecoma (Shrub , Pink) – Plant

Tecoma, commonly known as cape honeysuckle, is a flowering, versatile evergreen that is suitable as a climbing vine, border plant, shrub or ground cover.

Pink Tecoma stans is a flowering perennial shrub with pink flowers. It is a member of the Bignoniaceae trumpet vine family. This plant is indigenous to North America.

Pink Tecoma, Pink trumpetwood, and Pink Manjack are some of the other names for them. Tecoma Pink is a plant grown for its ornamental value.

It has pinnate green leaves with sharp teeth and large showy bright pink trumpet-shaped flowers. It is drought tolerant and thrives in warm climates.

Tecoma pink is an evergreen climber that grows fastly. During the spring and summer, Tecoma pink produces large clusters of bright pink, trumpet-shaped flowers 2 to 5 inches long. Bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds are attracted to the flowers.

They are also inexpensive, readily available, low maintenance, relatively drought-resistant, and vibrant bloomers for much of the year, which contributes to their popularity.

This perennial shrub gets its popular name from the vivid pink, trumpet-shaped blossoms that bloom in the spring, summer and fall.

How to take care of Tecoma Plant

  • Light: The plant loves the sun and will appreciate over eight hours of sunlight a day, if possible. It can survive when planted in partial shade, but it will not bloom to its full potential. It does not do well when planted in full shade.
  • Soil: The plant will grow in most soils, including clay, sand, and rocky ground. It will also grow in loamy locations.
  • Water: Mature plants will tolerate dry areas, but they will also grow in moist conditions. Even though they’re able to survive periods without rain, they do appreciate occasional watering during a particularly lengthy dry spell.
  • Fertiliser:  Additional fertilization may be helpful but unnecessary in most cases since the plant is naturally hardy. If you do choose to fertilize your plant plants periodically, make sure you also give water with each application. The fertilizer will not work if applied to dry ground.

Dos and Don’ts After Receiving the Plant

  • Do not re-pot the plant immediately after receiving it. We’ve taken care of that with a better pot and rich soil.
  • Keep the plant in indirect sunlight for 3 to 7 days.
  • Always check the soil moisture and keep the plant hydrated all time. Do not overwater it.
